Two years living in Bali left me with one major obsession: Pandan. They say it’s the vanilla of Southeast Asia, but there is just something so uniquely delicious about it. I miss it being a common ingredient in my daily life. So when I came across Trăm Phần Trăm’s salted Pandan syrup on a recent trip to DC, I had to give it a whirl, and was immediately back in my happy place. (Well, a few palm trees would also help, but I digress.)
Founder Thi Nguyen is an award-winning bartender so it comes as no surprise that this syrup is fine-tuned and well-balanced. I could put it in any drink and love it, alcohol or not — like plain old coconut water.
I learned Trăm Phần Trăm means 100% in Vietnamese, which is accurate, because this syrup is a 100% yes.
